Shaethliri Empire

Shaethliri Empire was a rump state of the Third Aethliri Empire in the Age of Chaos founded by general Ghaerösh after The Great Sealing. He crowned himself emperor disregarding religious requirement of being approved by the Sun and The Stars in Aethlirin. This led to him attaining very little legitimacy outside of the army and created a religious schism within Dhinism. He wanted to push the invading Kilruz out of Trödaem, but that task required much more manpower than he possessed.

After retreating from Aeatör Pass, Ghaerösh headed east, into Shaethlir. The region was rich, but more importantly – relied on slave labor for most of its production. After the recent civil war, many rebels were sold into slavery there, and they were experienced warrior. So, when Ghaerösh landed, he outlawed slavery in all his realm. This led to a massive surge in popularity with the peasantry, and reinforced his armies. He conquered all of Shaethlir, and to placate the nobles he married into one of their families. Ghaerösh also proclaimed that no taxes must be put on traders except imperial taxes. Then he made a pact with the Dörtash nomads in the north: they would be traded with and left mostly to their own devices, while they pay a symbolic tax and provide cavalry for Ghaerösh’s army.

In the coming generations the empire would see much struggle for power between different factions: the liberated slaves, the old nobility, supporters of Möthnaerini Senate, religious fanatics, and Dörtash nomads.

After a revolution by the Cult of Flame Imperishable, which worshipped both Dhin and Uran in year 313 AoC the Empire lasted until 533 AoC when regions supporting different factions seceded after a short period, when the Möthnaerini Steward inherited the throne of Shaethlir. Many of these splinters would late be absorbed by the Möthnaerini Stewardship.
