Uranism
Uranism is the family of faiths that worship the Old Gods, and their chief – Uran the Flamebringer. It is mostly practiced by Yanadr in Urandayed.
Uranists believe that Uran was the first of ancient spirits to understand how to create matter. He wished to build a realm, where spirits could escape the strict natural laws binding spirits. He taught other spirits how to shape matter, and convinced the ancestors of the Yanadr to join him.
The highest value of uranists is freedom from the laws of man and nature. They view the early Age of Creation as the blissful golden age, when Udroth worked as it should. The Demonic Invasion broke that Utopia, for which they despise the Aradh and their worshippers with an existential hatred. They are less hostile towards The Stars and Dhin, but view them as hijackers who fail to grasp even a basic understanding of what they conquered. The are thanked for helping defeat the Aradh, but otherwise thought of as oppressors.
Uranists believe in immortality of the spirit, but as men die, their spirits are forced out of Udroth into immateriality, and can’t return due to Uran being weakened and sleeping. But once he wakes, they believe, the end times will come and the world shall be returned to the bliss of unhindered creation. Different denominations use different means to bring about the time, such as sacrifices, maitainance of pure flames lit by Uran himself, elimination slaves, revelation of mysteries, or many others. In that time, the souls of the dead are guarded by the Old Gods in the nothingness. Those who failed to strive for freedom and help others as Uran intended are exempt from that help.
Formally, for one to be called an uranist, they must accept a the Igninomicon as put down by Yuznar the Liberator in the Age of History during the Dragon War. It was created on the base of following sources:
- Life of Uran(variations of Zunarydh, Zaymarub, Mzurabil and Myrybhur.)
- Sermons of various authorship
- Various prophecies, including Yuznar’s prophecy of Uran’s Last Folk.
The major denomenations include:
- Zunarydh’s Path. They hold Life of Uran by Zunarydh as fully canonic and worship her equally to Uran
- Zaymarubists. They are very heterogenous, ranging from mere acceptance of Zaymarub’s account of Uran as fully truthful to outright refusal to worship Uran out of dislike for the world he built. But all Zaymarubists hold Zaymarub as Uran’s heir and equal. One of their largest subdivision is the Mariner’s Creed founded by Uzayrun the Mariner.
- **Mzurabil’s Light. They follow Mzurabil the god of wisdom and his account of events. Their texts are most esoteric and often syncretized with other faiths. They believe that in order for Uran to return, men must transcend mortality themselves.
- Myzybhur’s Loyal. They hold Myrybhur as the steward of Uran on Udroth, as he is the only of the Old Gods who remains in the material world. They commune with him throught shining crystals in his holy vale. They despise The Stars the most of all Uranists
- Cult of the Craft of Arazymar. The youngest cult, it worships the god of civilization as the necessary component of Udroth’s creation, without which Uran’s endeavor would have failed. They think that Uran will not wake himself, and men must find a way to heal and wake him using acheivments of their own labor.
There are many subdenomenations, minor cults. Often local nature spirits are added to the pantheon on par with greater gods.
